We will fight to keep your kids from being taught anything other than academics. The Dept of Education sets agendas and we have found pornography in school libraries. There needs to be more parent/teacher communication and transparency.

WHAT I STAND FOR
I have gotten a lot of questions...here are some of my beliefs.
My beliefs are that kids need to be protected from sexually explicit material, that parents (all parents of any persuasion) should be notified of conversations their kids have with school officials, that political ideals should not be a part of the curriculum, unless it is in a history class and being taught as history, that teachers should be paid a better salary and merit increases, that the school board budget needs to be gone through and be transparent to all, that all kids should be afforded the same opportunities and not singled out by race or religion or handicap. This is about the kids, this is not about you or I or what we agree to disagree about. Tampa is an extremely diverse city and I don't believe if given the chance and without media interference, we can't all get along. We virtually all want the same thing, dont we? We want our families safe, our kids educated and treated with respect, and to live our lives as we see fit. It is nobody's business what you do in your own home, your own bedroom, or who you choose to worship. When we send our kids to school, they are bringing the values we have taught them. This is what makes them individuals and not robots. Kids will get along if given the chance and not influenced by hate, or jealousy. If you teach them empathy and love, these values will follow them to school.

Instead of trying to group all grades together in this fight, let's scale back and re-classify a bit.
Movies have ratings and there is a reason for that. Some content is just too disturbing for younger children....period.
Why can't we group books into appropriate categories?
I am not condoning books with explicit sexual or pornographic material in ANY school library.
Elementary School should not have any books that relate to any kind of sexual acts, suggestions, or pictures. These authors that want to push the envelope for this age group need to be stopped. This age group is the most vulnerable and impressionable and this is why they are so targeted.
Middle School
This age group is the "coming of adolescence" group. They are also vulnerable as their bodies are changing and they most likely have seen some degree of adult themed movies by now and they know a lot more than we think they do. Trust me. Remember, most of them already have a computer in their back pockets anyway. Guidance here is the key. We still don't need sexually explicit books or any gender questioning books in this category. I think this age can understand by now that some of their friends have different family structures, different values and morals. This is not something the school needs to get involved in so books about it serve no purpose other than to possibly sway these young minds one way or the other.
High School
Here we have young adults who think they know everything anyway so I would be inclined to only have research type books, technical books, college prep books, vocational books and maybe classic literature. They don't need to check out story books. They all have a computer in their back pockets where they will get all the information they seek.
As far as K thru 12 schools....... they should have different libraries or at least different sections.

About ME
I have been happily married for 36 years, I have 4 kids, 6 grandkids and 1 great grandchild. For sure, I have a vested interest in their school experiences.
I am a real estate broker, a general contractor, an investor, and an advocate for fairness in equal housing, affordable housing and protecting homeowners rights against unelected bureaucrats. I will put this same energy into our school board. We have to make it a win for parents, teachers and most of all ----our kids!
A good example of neglect
Could we not have fixed this way before it became such a problem?
This is Just Elementary School. Just sits in a highly publicized area known as "West River" in Tampa. West River was slated for a 200 Million dollar revitalizing transformation by the City just a few years ago. I saw property values skyrocket. So why would an elementary school be closed in the midst of all this?
